The Mexican stock market continues to decline following its worst session since the beginning of the year.

The local indices retreat for the fourth day in a row, pressured by the stocks of Vesta and Chedraui, in a market analyzing the latest economic data from the US.

The Mexican stock exchanges are trading with losses this Thursday morning. Local indices are down for the fourth consecutive session after suffering their worst day since the beginning of the year, in a market that is reviewing economic figures from the United States.

The leading index S&P/BMV IPC of the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), which groups the most traded local stocks, is down 0.11% at 56,571.75 units. The FTSE BIVA of the Institutional Stock Exchange (Biva) is down 0.11% to 1,160.96 points.

Within the benchmark index, most stocks are trading lower. Shares of Corporación Inmobiliaria Vesta lead the declines, down 2.91% to 61.34 pesos, followed by Chedraui, down 2.22% to 124.59 pesos.

Due to the negative outlook weighing on international peers, the Mexican stock market will likely continue to take profits.

Meanwhile, in Mexico, the Mexican government is seeking the suspension of Ecuador as a member of the United Nations if it does not apologize for the recent raid on the Mexican embassy in Quito, in a lawsuit filed with the International Court of Justice,” Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena said on Thursday.

The forceful entry on Friday by police and soldiers into the Mexican diplomatic headquarters in Ecuador to arrest former Vice President Jorge Glas, whom Mexico had granted political asylum after sheltering him for months, led to the rupture of bilateral relations and international condemnation.

The official detailed that the lawsuit will be filed during the day and explained that with it, Mexico wants to test the international justice system to prevent situations like the one that occurred in the Ecuadorian capital from happening again.
